Stole this from a friend's blog. I figured it should be re-posted as many times as possible so that it really gets out there.
This is right. And how can you think otherwise?

I Love My Apartment
I can hear Prop 8 protesters two blocks away. They are f-ing up traffic all over Hollywood and they are loud!
There's so much energy here, I'm not sure I'll ever be able to leave.
Speaking of...
As you may have noticed, I just tried to add some music to share with you all.
If you know of a better way to do it, where I don't have to link to a file that you then have to download before you can listen to it, let me know, please. I really want to have some kind of little player where you can just hit "play" and hear it instantly.
Help me achieve this. You will be rewarded!

We Hate Gays
How the fuck did Prop. 8 pass in California? In case you don't know, Prop. 8 was Cali's "protect marriage" amendment. (You can click on the title of this entry to learn more.) There were tons of commercials leading up to the election telling us that kids would be taught gay marriage in school and even one that showed a group of very sad first-graders who were taken to a lesbian wedding in San Francisco (which, if it's true, I kind of disagree with that method of teaching, but still). Basically, the "Vote Yes on Prop 8" groups were saying that allowing gay marriage was going to corrupt our children and our society as a whole.
Then there were a slew of others against Prop 8. Now, I wouldn't say I'm a fan of homosexuality. I've gotten quite far away from my religious roots, but something about it still doesn't quite sit right. That said, I have a handful of gay friends because, frankly, I relate to people on an individual basis. The commercials against Prop 8 had the same dinky production value as the Pro- commercials, but their message resonated much more with me. "No one should be discriminated against under the law. It's as simple as that." And had I voted in Cali, I would've voted NO on Prop 8. I'm crushed that so many did not.
I went to CNN.com this morning to check the results like those. (Obviously, I have already heard who is President; more on that later.) It turns out Prop 8 passed 52% to 48%, but the really scary thing was the breakdown of voter demographics. Even in a state as liberal as California, the majority of people in every demographic CNN broke down (male, female, and then four different age ranges) voted in favor of Prop 8, with the exception of the 18-29 yr. olds.
So like I said, I did not vote in California. I absentee voted in Florida and thank the good lord that I did. It was a close race for Obama that my vote helped win!
Florida also had an amendment similar to Prop 8 on the ballot. It was called Prop 2 and the basic wording of the amendment is that "the law will recognize marriage as the union between one man and one woman." No one else. Since I couldn't vote on Prop 8, which was bombarding me with commercials over here on the West Coast, I decided to make my choice known on Florida's ballot. I voted NO on Prop 2.
It passed in Florida with an overwhelming majority, 62% yes, only 38% no. And when I looked at the demographic breakdown, EVERY GROUP voted yes.
Males - 63% yes.
Females - 62% yes.
age 65 and older - 66% yes.
age 45-64 - 62% yes.
age 30-44 - 65% yes.
and the real kick in the groin, age 18-29 - 53% voted yes.
Oh, Florida. Oh, people in general.

Election Day
This is it, folks. I hope you're paying attention.
I have no idea how long it takes to count votes and announce the official winner, but I'm guessing within 24 hours, we will know who the next president of Los Estados Unidos, Les Etats-Unis, the United States is.
I am straight-up scared.
